Apple Core has released a new version (2.2) of aTV Flash, an US$59.95 USB flash drive that inserts into the Apple TV and will upgrade it to do various kinds of new things. The software installs automatically, and no modification or coding is required.
aTV Flash lets your Apple TV play most video formats (DivX, Xvid, AVI, WMV, RMVB + more) an play DVD files without converting them. It also lets you: sync, organize and watch non-iTunes video files; browse the web with a Safari based web browser; rent and watch Hi-Def movies from Jaman.com; stream media from UPnP(v1) media servers; view local weather forecasts; view RSS Feeds; and enable SSH access. Version 2.2 fixes problems with Mplayer, OpenAL and the Couch Surfer web browser.
