Artlandia has updated its pattern design plug-ins to be compatible with the new Creative Suite 3 (CS3) versions of Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop. They’re used by designers in such markets as textile, print, web and illustration.

SymmetryWorks and SymmetryShop automate the process of creating surface designs in Illustrator and Photoshop, respectively. SymmetryWorks lets the user create and interactively edit patterns with both vector and raster elements, and SymmetryShop specializes in creating patterns from large scanned images and high-resolution photographs.

The updates are available for both Mac and Windows platforms. The Mac versions are Universal Binary apps, so run natively on both PowerPC and Intel systems. The updates are free for registered users. Users of all earlier versions of SymmetryWorks can upgrade for US$75 (downloadable version) or $99 (the CD-ROM version with a printed user guide). Site license users will receive a free upgrade that’s expected to ship next week. For new users SymmetryWorks costs US $229 (download) or $255 (CD), and SymmetryShop is $265 (download) or $291 (CD). You can get both combined for $419 (download) or $469 (CD).
