Apple software updates for July 24

Black Cat Systems has released version 7.5.0 of Elmer, software with sample tests to help you prepare for your amateur (ham) radio written examination. The upgrade includes the new Extra Class question pool, which went into effect July 1, 2008.
Now Software has released a beta version of its Calendar Module for the NightHawk cross-platform group calendar and contact management software. NightHawk now imports both Now Up-to-Date and ics calendar file formats. A graphics palette that supports multiple collections, drag-and-drop, and zooming is now part of the application.
Yahoo! Messenger for Mac 3.0 Beta is now available. This latest release (version 120437) includes several bug fixes that address issues with stealth settings, file transfer, mobile settings, and interoperability with Windows Live Messenger.
Tenon has released Post.Office 3.8.4, an update of the mail server for Mac OS X. The built-in web-managed SPAM filter engine has been updated to allow filters to be imported, exported, and disabled. The upgrade adds security to SMTP Authentication, ensures open relay protection while giving authorized users world-wide mail server access, supports the addition of open-source plug-ins to complement and reinforce Post.Office’s built-in filtering and more.
DEVONtechnologies has updated its DEVONthink info manager to version 1.5.3 in both the Professional and Professional Office editions. Users now have the choice between the built-in scan function and ExactScan Capture allowing them to connect to both Image Capture compliant scanners and via TWAIN drivers. In addition, the original scan module supports document feeders and grayscale scanning now. The ExactScan Capture module and the embedded IRIS OCR engine have been updated, too, improving compatibility especially to Epson scanners and fixing glitches such as the “blurry images” problem.
Also, DEVONtechnologies has released updates for all editions of its information manager DEVONthink as well as for the intelligent note-keeper DEVONnote re-introducing Image-Capture-based scan support and other new features. DEVONthink Pro Office 1.5.3 users now have the choice between the built-in scan function and ExactScan Capture allowing them to connect to both Image Capture compliant scanners and via TWAIN drivers.
net4mac, a free social networking service built exclusively for Mac users, has been updated to version 1.5. New to the update are improved chat (completely rewritten), an enhanced geolocation feature, a tweaked user interface, forums and more.
Fastforward Software has updated Galder, a puzzle board game for Mac OS X, to version 1.2. The upgrade adds an online lobby for enhanced multiplayer gaming, custom mouse cursors, and several enhancements to improve overall game performance and playability.
NSObjects has released Calories 1.1, an update of the nutrition tracking and analysis utility for Mac OS X 10.5 (“Leopard”). The upgrade now conforms to the Metric Standard (measurements in grams and milliliters). The date and time are now shown in the users language and date format. Weeks can start on Sunday or Monday, depending on the users system locale preferences.
Mozilla.org, creators of the Firefox web browser, has released version 2.0.0.16 of Thunderbird, its free e-mail client. It’s a maintenance update.
