Apple shares have jumped two percent after The New York Times reported that CEO Steve Jobs has told associates that he is cancer free.
Apple fell as much as 12 percent yesterday in Nasdaq Stock Market trading and ended the day down 2.6 percent to $162.02, over concerns about Jobs’ health. The stock gained US$3.15, or 1.9 percent, to US$165.17 at 10:16 a.m. (Eastern) in Nasdaq Stock Market trading today. The shares had dropped 18 percent this year before today.
Analyst Gene Munster of the Piper Jaffray firm has said in the past that if Jobs were to leave Apple for any reason, the stock would plummet 53 percent, notes the Financial Post.
“The company’s reluctance to discuss the CEO’s health during the recent earnings conference call only added to the speculation,” says Blogging Stocks.
