imageThe Houston-based technology company Podcast Ready has reportedly received a cease-and-desist letter from Apple requesting that the company refrain from using the terms “myPodder” and “Podcast Ready,” reports local6.com. Podcast Ready provides software that helps consumers manage their audio and video podcasts independently of iTunes and works on any MP3 device.

Reportedly, Apple’s letter arrived the day before Podcast Ready unveiled a new version of its software that works with the iPod. The company is the latest to get a warning from Apple over the use of “pod” in a product title.

On Sept. 15 it was reported that Paul Richings and Marion Barling of Britain had applied in March for a patent for a device and accompanying parts that would use biometric recognition and store cards, personal data, biometric software and scanners. They dubbed it the “securipod” wallet. On the final day for opposing the registration, Apple issued an objection.

On Sept. 5 it was revealed that Apple will pay a New Jersey woman to stop using the word “pod” in the name of a protective case she designed for laptop computer. Terry Wilson, who sells the TightPod over the Internet, said Apple contacted her after the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office said she would soon receive a trademark for the product. She wouldn’t say how much Apple agreed to pay toward costs of the name change.
