Apple has invited certain members of the media to a special event on Tuesday, Sept. 12, at 10 a.m. (Pacific) at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts Theater in San Francisco, California.
The invitation says “It’s Showtime” and sports a white, two-dimensional Apple logo swept by spotlights (a la Hollywood premieres). Naturally, Apple isn’t offering any details on what will be announced, but the rumor mill is abuzz with announcements of downloadable movies at the iTunes Music Store, new iPods (including a “true” video iPod) and new iMacs (including a 23-incher).
The special event coincides with the kick-off of the Apple Expo in Paris, France. However, Apple has previously announced that Apple CEO won’t be on hand in France to kick off the annual event with a keynote. Apple CEO Jobs has often been on hand for the show, though he didn’t deliver a keynote in 2005 (though he was in Paris) and was replaced by Phil Schiller, Apple’s vice president of worldwide marketing in 2004, as he was recovering from surgery. The 2006 Apple Expo will be held Sept. 12-16 at the Porte De Versailles, Hall 5, in Paris, France. Currently, exhibits are planned by Apple and “250 partners.”
