Apple has set up an American Idol related web site in which you can “write a smash hit in GarageBand and hear it live on American Idol and iTunes.” The company will also be holding iTunes Songwriter Workshops at Apple retail stores.
The workshops will be held Saturday, March 22, at 2 pm and Monday, March 24, at 6 pm. This free one-hour workshop covers music-making basics and gives you songwriting tips from the pros. You’ll learn about song structure, chord progression, lyrics, and just what makes a great song great. You’ll also get to explore GarageBand hands-on. You will need to register at the above URL.
The iTunes Songwriter Workshop is being held in conjunction with the American Idol Songwriting Competition. You can view the Songwriter’s Guide online.
