Apple has 72.3 percent of MP3 player market in February

Apple dominated the MP3 player market in February with 72.3 percent market share. Other companies in the top five (and their marketshare) were: Sandisk (9.7 percent); Creative Labs (2.7 percent), Samsung (2.5 percent) and Microsoft (2.5 percent). The tables from Bloomberg are ranked by total dollar volume and unit share in descending order.
These figures are for retail channel sales only and don’t include direct sales, sales from Wal-Mart or warehouse clubs. On April 9 Apple announced that the 100 millionth iPod has been sold, making the iPod the fastest selling music player in history.
