In what appears be the first move toward censoring discussion of the issue, Apple Support has locked the discussion thread “Bought new iMac 20” Faded Screen,” which began on August 7 (the day the new iMacs were first sold), reports Tom’s Hardware site. The thread had, until it was locked earlier this week, served as the major focal point for discussion of the gradient color issue that continues to trouble owners of 20-inch and some 24-inch 2007 iMacs.
Tom’s Hardware says “the discussion thread had seen a recent surge in activity since it was mentioned in the article below, and since the beginning of the holiday shopping season.” However, new posts regarding the gradient color issue are being deleted and replaced with error messages, the article adds.

Um, this behaviour isn’t new. Apple moderator’s been censoring discussions of topics they don’t like for years. They seem to hope to keep the issue down, but they don’t realize that it’s like a water leak. They can put their finger over the leak on their web site, but it just springs up bigger on some other site where they have no control.

You’re right on, Dave. Apple spends more time denying issues than if they just spent fixing them. I really want to see them start addressing software issues, too.

If accurate this is exactly the kind of dictator behavior that would prompt my switch back to Windows. Again if accurate it’s very disappointing.
