Apple App Store sees more than 500 million downloads so far

Apple says that the Apple App Store has seen more than 500 million apps downloaded since it opened in July 2008. A banner on Apple’s webs site reveals more than 15,000 apps have found their way to the App Store’s digital shelves since July.
Apple didn’t make the announcement via a press release, but in an ad that runs in the USA Today, The Wall Street Journal and The New York Times. In December Apple said over 300 million apps had been downloaded, and there were 10,000 apps available at the Apple App Store.
