imageAmerican Techology Analyst Shaw Wu told clients he thinks there’s a 50 percent chance a hybrid between a Mac and iPod touch will be announced during Apple CEO Steve Jobs’ June 9 keynote at the 2008 Worldwide Developer Conference.

He’s prognosticating a touchscreen device with either a 4-inch or 7-inch screen. Wu is also predicting the unveiling of a 3G iPhone with prices ranging from US$399 to $499. Along with this, he’s expecting current models to be discounted by $50 to $100. The analyst thinks the new iPhone will be sport GPS features and a better virtual keyboard in a thinner, lighter case that’s “more durable and inexpensive to produce.”

But don’t expect to see any new Macs, Wu says. Instead save your computer buying bucks for the fall.

“Our sources indicate radically refreshed portable Macs most likely won’t be ready for volume production until the September quarter,” Wu said. “We believe we could end up with a ‘special event’ in calendar quarter three to announce these new Macs.”
