Mike Olson, an analyst with Piper Jaffray, reaffirmed, in a letter to clients, the firm’s expectations of a redesigned iPod touch and new MacBooks at a special event next month—but said not to hold your breath waiting on the eternally rumored ultraportable Mac.
If such a laptop debuts, Olson doesn’t think it will arrive before 2010. The closest Apple may come to such a device in the near future is a smaller version of the MacBook Air next yera, he adds.
However, next month, Piper Jaffray is expecting iPod touches with slight design tweaks and price cuts, as well as redesigned MacBooks. Olson told clients that the consumer portable’s low-end model is likely to see a price cut from US$1,099 to $999.
