An interesting 3-D ‘holographic’ effect on an iPhone (video)

Folks, this is really cool. It’s an illusion of a 3-D hologram—produced by animator David O’Reilly—jumping off the screen of an iPhone. The 3-D scene’s perspective is warped using anamorphosis, the same technique used in Hans Holbein’s painting The Ambassadors.
This illustration is an idea O’Reilly had which he believes could work with the technology of combining anamorphosis and motion sensing. Unfortunately he’s just an ideas person. O’Reilly says, “I can show how things should look, but I’m no hardcore programmer. I’d be happy to collaborate with a developer or studio who want’s to make it happen. I’m bursting with ideas for the interactive world, but right now all my attention is on filmmaking.”
