OakTree Software has released the Accordance Primary Collection 8 DVD. The latest in its Accordance line of Bible Software products, the Primary Collection 8 DVD lets users choose from a variety of study packages and install them from one disc.

The Primary Collection 8 DVD includes version 8 of the Accordance application. It’s now Universal Binary so runs natively on both PowerPC and Intel Macs. In addition, a new unified Intel-native installer lets you install multiple packages and modules at once.

The resources on the Primary Collection 8 DVD are divided into two main tracks: an English studies track, known as the Library collection, and an Original Language track, known as the Scholar’s Collection.

The Library Collection offers a variety of English Bibles, along with word study tools, Bible dictionaries, commentaries, devotionals, and a wide variety of other study aids. The Library collection is available at four different “levels” to meet the needs of different users and budgets. The Entry level includes the equivalent of US$210 in print books for $59. The Introductory, Standard, and Premier levels each offer progressively greater value, according to the folks at OakTree. The Library 8 Premier offers a library purportedly worth more than $6,000 in print for $299.

The Scholar’s Collection is designed for those who wish to study the Bible in the original languages. It features a wide selection of Greek, Hebrew, Aramaic, Syriac, and Latin Bibles and extrabiblical texts, most of which have been “tagged” with lexical and grammatical information. The Scholar’s Collection also offers various “levels” of content. The Introductory Level is designed for the budget-conscious student, offering $425 worth of material for $149. The Standard and Premier Levels offer more material. The Scholar’s 8 Premier offers nearly $3500 worth of material for just $349. Bundle prices are available for those who wish to combine Library and Scholar’s levels, and upgrade prices are available from previous versions of the Library and Scholar’s collections.
