3G iPhone launch date confirmed?

imageThe Gizmodo web site claims that rumors of a 3G iPhone has been confirmed. The site says tahtsources close to the 3G iPhone launch have told them that Apple will announce their new model at the WWDC Keynote on June 9.

The new iPhone will be available worldwide right after the launch, and not at year’s end, as previously thought, Gizmodo says. The new model will also “herald new sales policies in some countries,” the article adds. Apple CEO Steve Jobs will deliver the keynote.

Along the same lines, ComputerWorld says that a 3G iPhone will generate even higher sales of the communications device as some customers have been delaying a purchase as they await the device. According to Paul Carton, the research director at ChangeWave Research, a quarter of the people polled in March who plan to buy an iPhone said that they were postponing the buy until Apple releases a new model (14 per cent) or were waiting for 3G compatibility (11 per cent).

They have? Then why are they sold out. I maintain that a handful of geeks have been waiting - the average every day iPhone user has already been enjoying iPhone for nearly a year now.  Seriously, ask Joe Average walking down the street if they know what 3G is - they haven’t got a clue.

I agree with Andre - people I know that have 3G don’t even know what it is!  My bet is that the Mac-centric crowd has been waiting for this upgrade to buy in on the iPhone - only time will tell, but I’m betting that the next version does one better than the first.
