imageThe 2006 MacGathering will be held May 19-20 in North Hollywood. The third annual meeting for Mac users from all over Southern California will include such guests as Boston Legal’s René Auberjonois and comedian/actor Sinbad—who will also once again deliver the keynote.

The event will be held at Beverly Garland’s Holiday Inn, 4222 Vineland Ave., Hollywood, California. Seminars will run 9 am to 5:30 pm, and the exhibit hall will be open from 10 am to 6 pm.

“Southern California probably has the highest concentration of Mac users anywhere because of the entertainment industries and businesses such as JPL (Jet Propulsion Lab)—but we’ve lacked a local event where we can all get together,” says Deborah Shadovitz, the show’s creator. “That’s just one thing the MacGathering provides. Whereever you live in Southern California, you’re just about two hours away from the MacGathering.”

Classes and informative sessions will be taught by: Steve Martin, the man behind the Final Cut Pro tutorials at Apple.com; Macworld magazine author and designer Andrew Shalat (who penned the new book, Mac Design Out of the Box) and others. Seminars will cover topics pertinent to creative professionals, SoHo business folks, beginners and casual users.

The exhibit hall will have booths are specifically designed to invite attendees in to sit and become acquainted with software or hardware. Social events include Friday night’s MacMixer to which all attendees are invited “for music, magic, and mingling.”

Several pricing options are offered. A discount coupon can be obtained at iPodGarage.com. There is also a special rate of USt $39 for a two-day seminar + exhibits pass with a one-night hotel stay at the show rate of $109. The 2006 MacGathering is sponsored by Macworld, Fender Audio, iPod Garage and PR Web.
